Robotic Classrom Cameras
Each classroom is equipped with a state-of-the-art video camera capable of streaming live video through a secure connection to our parent's computer or tablet while they are at home or work. There are other childcare facilities in the country that provide this service to parents, but not like ours. Our cameras allow parents to control the camera. Specifically, parents can pan, tilt and zoom right in on their children while they play, sleep, eat or create an art project. This brings parents into their child's classroom in a way that has never been done before and provides concerned parents with great peace of mind.
Classroom iPads
The Corcoran School has an ever-growing bank of iPads, pre-loaded with dozens of educational, age-appropriate apps to challenge a growing mind. Teachers have media carts and software which can network all of the ipads together and for an engaging learning experience for the whole class. Learning has never been so much fun.
iMac Lab
Because of Apple's long standing history and committment to education, The Corcoran School exclusively leverages Apple products. The Corcoran School has a dedicated computer lab filled with iMacs pre-loaded with educational, age-appropriate software. The Corcoran School also maintains a school-wide license to ABCMouse.com. ABC Mouse helps children learn to read thorugh phonics, and teaches lessons in math, social studies, art, music and much more. Children spend time in our iMac Lab numerous times throughout each week.
Smart Boards / Smart Projectors
The Corcoran School leverages media carts with "smart" projectors. Unlike static projectors, these smart projectors are identical to smart-boards except that they project the images on a pull-down screen rather than on a whiteboard. A hand-held digital pen captures students input and performs the action on the projected screen. These smart projectors empower the teachers to create engaging, interactive lessons for children which can even include the networked iPads. Studies have shown that this type of technology dramatically improves classroom learning and children's attention span.
Teacher Tablets
At the Corcoran School, our teachers are empowered with hand-held tablets running our very own proprietary software. Our software tracks children's attendance throughout the school, maintains instant access for teachers to emergency contact information, captures learning milestones in real-time, and captures pictures of special moments throughout the day to share with parents.
State of the Art Building Security
The Corcoran School leverages our very own proprietary software which manages building security. Every parent has their own personalized password to gain access to our building. When parents arrive in the morning for drop-off, or in the afternoon for pickup, parents will enter their password on a wall-mounted tablet computer. After the system authenticates the parent, the door is electronically unlocked permitting access. After a family is no longer enrolled at our school, the password is immediately removed and school access is thus prevented. This personalized approach to building security differs from many of our competitors that - either have no security at all, or - have only 1 access code that is shared by everyone.
